As you may be aware on the 7th October Ed Miliband reshuffled the Labour Front Bench Team in Parliament. As a result of this I have been moved to the Shadow Communities and Local Government Team and am no longer the Shadow Minister for Civil Society.
I am very excited about my new position as Shadow Minister for Planning and Procurement. It’s a crucial time for planning in the UK; over the coming months the Localism Bill is being implemented by the Government and the National Policy Planning Framework (NPPF) is being consulted upon.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of the charitable organisations I have had the pleasure of working with over the past year as Shadow Minister for Civil Society for their support and advice. My colleague Gareth Thomas is the new Shadow Minister for Civil Society and I am sure that he will do a great job.
I would like to wish everyone I worked with in the third sector well in what I know are difficult times with increasing workloads and, for many, reducing resources.
I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and keep an eye on this blog for regular updates.
